Today Ankara and Beirut ... Next Year In Jerusalem?

My good friends in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations have been playing a real hot hand this week, because today they announced construction awards for a new U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, and another one in Beirut, Lebanon. Two places that badly, badly, need new facilities.

Now the big question in my mind is, will those OBO architects and planners next turn their attention to New U.S. Embassy Jerusalem?

TSB: The Shooting at Ft. Lauderdale Airport unfortunately illustrates several important things that could easily be exploited.

1. This location is ideal for surprising large groups of family and friends where no armed security can be mobilized quickly. That one person could plan and execute this so carefully shows how vulnerable the situation is.

2.Mental illness can be treated by well educated psychiatrists and mental health teams, but a good psychiatrist can easily make $450,000 a year. I think this guy will win a lawsuit against the State of Alaska and the doctor who declared him to be 'fine'. The US security apparatus is going to have trouble doing more than crossing their fingers and hoping on this one. Everyone did their job the way they were expected to and it was a disaster. gwb

TSB: And here are the "Smoking Friends" from his 11 months in Iraq: Esteban Santiago's mother wiped tears from her eyes as she stood inside a screen door Saturday. She said her son had been tremendously affected by seeing a bomb explode near two friends while serving in Iraq.

Alaska National Guard spokeswoman Lt. Col. Candis Olmstead told The New York Times that two soldiers in Santiago's company had died during his stint in Iraq. gwb

TSB: Kate's Law is now passed by both house and senate! Bill O'Reilly said he was going to do it and it took 1 1/2 years.

I heard a lot of politicians say it wasn't that important, but then those are the same people who never expected Hillary to take a position on issues that might affect her poll ratings.

I also like Rand Paul's proposal to simply freeze spending, but let congress spend the money however they want. That would eliminate the debt in 5 years. (Maybe we don't need 700,000 civilians in DOD?) gwb

TSB: It's about time the US gets behind the reformers in Iran. When 2 million people show up for your funeral and the establishment tries to drown them out you have done some worthwhile things in your life. gwb well done by Juan Cole

As Trump guns for Iran Deal, can its Reformists survive death of Hashemi-Rafsanjani?

TSB: According to the Guardian: A new report released today features both the FBI seeking to launch a surveillance operation against an active US presidential campaign, and the ultra-rare case of the FISA courts actually turning down an FBI request to conduct surveillance against somebody.

With all this fake news flying around it looks like major elements of the DC establishment are not ready for a peaceful transition of power?

TSB: Major new British medical study shows that marijuana strongly enhances the development of schizophrenia, especially in the heaviest users and casts doubt on it's other areas of supposed effectiveness; particularly seizures. It definitely increases the frequency of auto crashes and triggers heart attacks. gwb

TSB: The 'Swamp Creatures' all look to be in a death match. McCain, Rubio, Pompeo all want war with Iran and Putin and everyone wants Trump to prove he wasn't having orgies in the Kremlin with Putin. Obamacare has already effectively been gutted creating a huge tax break for the thousands of multi-millionaires in the country.

Meanwhile, Isreal is attacking Syria and Biden gets a "Medal of Freedom" for I don't know what?

GWB: That British marijuana study is quite alarming. It's probably a good thing the Libertarian Party will never get into power.

That's Right TSB! We have to stop those Brits from doing actual research. And then there are these great cabinet hearings. Like wouldn't CIA director label Putin a war criminal? Who would
Rubio label the war criminals behind this?

And Rep John Lewis of Georgia declares Trump "Not a legitimate President" because rumors that could be used by the Russians to blackmail him and I guess because he is eliminating Obamacare and barely won Georgia?? Then there are the documented ties of Hillary to Poreschenko.

TSB: Did you hear the Feds have found racism, torture and murder in the Chicago PD. The Chicago Mayor is SHOCKED! I wonder if anyone will be charged or did they just burn all the records? I hear our ex-attorney general has a new job defending sanctuary cities in California. gwb

GWB: Chicago must be somebody's fault. Maybe DOJ should take its complaints to whoever is in charge of that city. Isn't he a friend of Obama's?
