Mean Power Politics

This is the most amusing online thingee I've come across lately. So good that I will swallow my pride and admit to having watched Mean Girls,* because you have to know that movie in order to appreciate It's Raining Mensheviks.

The idea is to find a picture of an early Soviet leader - be it a Menshevik, Bolshevik, Socialist Revolutionary, or whatnot - and add an appropriate quote from the movie. It works! Beneath the ideology, those revolutionaries were not unlike a teenage girl band of conspiratorial, cliquish, backstabbing, jealous, queen bees and wannabees.

*Just for the record, I watched it during a long boring plane ride, so I don't think it should cost me any points off my man card.

"*Just for the record, I watched it during a long boring plane ride, so I don't think it should cost me any points off my man card." A likely story TSB, a likely story indeed.

That's good TSB, especially the "where'd you get the beard?" one. I haven't seen these mean girls but I think someone should "airbrush in" some of our really tuff political women in those pictures. My favorite is 'Big Sis'. She knows the office doesn't matter in a revolution. It's just who can manage the 'collateral damage' with a straight face. gwb

GWB: I wonder if a black-and-white photo of Big Sis would seem out of place among the old Bolshivik women? Good idea.

James: Okay, you got me. I'll confess I watched the whole movie after I got a look at 16-something year old Lindsey Lohan. That incredible rack would make anybody weaken.

"would make anybody weaken" and the Lord sayeth the road of righteous is narrow. But the Lord doesn't have
cable and I bet there'll be a rerun soon.

TSB: 'When You See Something Say Something': This month is the 10th Anniversary of the 'Patriot Act'.
I salute Senator Russ Feingold who was the only senator to vote against it. Many of the others are still there naming post offices and rubber-stamping whatever it is the President thinks he's doing secretely.

TSB: When it comes to protecting our schools I think 'Big Sis' is aiming for the Cyprus model. There you can only own a shotgun with a 2 shot maximum. (police license required and all ammo sales recorded) Supporters of this say it could eliminate bank robberies too! gwb

TSB: That was a pretty fun article about the DC beltway in wapo. They have crumbled underneath so they need to be rebuilt but they're so jammed that if you shut down one lane you close down DC. What to do? Brasilia? gwb

TSB said...

GWB: I never take the Beltway, so I say "shut it down." Let them ride bikes.

TSB: I'd like to see 'Babs' lead the charge on that bicycle to work idea since GM corn is linked to obesity, diabetes, cancer, kidney failure and heart disease...and thanks to her and her lobbying friends no one will ever be able to sue them for it. gwb

Also, have you read any of Alex Berenson's books? He's got the Chicoms putting a hole in the USS Decateur with a torpedo off the Korean coast. Looks like we are suddenly afraid of N. Korea. gwb

TSB: When I hear Kerry is in 'vigorous' talks with the Chinese to cool down N.Korea while the PLA has been attacking us via computer I think something is going to happen in the next few weeks. N.Korea is a Chinese proxy. I noticed also that India is telling the US to shove it about Iranian oil imports. (100,000 bpd). gwb

"Blog del Narco is the most important media source in Mexico". Yes! Also I have people from Mexico who've worked for me 20+yrs and their sons also for many years. From what they say I would look for vigilantism to become very prevalent down there.

TSB: There are 2 things about the new bird flu in China that make me think it's going to explode. 1.Unlike H1N1 flu infected chickens often show no signs of illness. 2.The new flu is highly fatal but the old test only registers a weak positive even on critically ill victims. Then there is 3 and 4: It's already spread to Shanghai and do you really trust the Chi-coms?

A new post is overdue. I'll put up something this weekend about the FSO killed in Afghanistan. Unless I go fishing, that is.

James: There hasn't been any news besides the world burning down. I tried to read that state budget tweet and fell asleep. Diplopundit came to life over the latest tragic state cover-up. TSB deserves time to contemplate the past and future of boats..I mean moats! gwb

The world isn't burning down, at least not any more than usual. I predict the worst thing to be launched from Korea this week is that new Psy video.

Anyway, I finally posted something about last week's attack in Afghanistan.
